How many campers attend Buck's Rock Camp?

Three hundred and sixty at a time.

What are the age of the campers at Buck's Rock Camp?

11-16 years.

Where is Buck's Rock Camp located?

Situated on 125 acres of deeply wooded forests in New Milford, CT, only 85 miles from New York City, Buck's Rock is located in the heart of many cultural facilities. Campers enjoy visits to Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, Caramoor, the Shakespeare Festival, the Yale Arts Museum, and Pratt Center, all of which are just a short drive away.

What should campers bring with them to Buck's Rock?

Buck's Rock is set in natural woodlands and campers will be very comfortable without worrying about dressing up. Campers should pack clothing that is comfortable and suitable to the areas in which they will be working. Keep in mind that clothes should be easy to launder and that delicate fabrics should be avoided. You may want to include one nicer outfit in case your child wants to go on a trip such as the one to the Tanglewood Music Festival. A nice dress or shirt and slacks are fine for these occasions.

All clothing items must be identified with the camper's full name. We have enclosed a name tape order form for your convenience, or you may choose to use a laundry marker. Also, please use duffel bags or soft luggage for packing clothing as there is limited storage space. Trunks or large hard suitcases cannot be accommodated. The list that follows is a suggested one. Since it takes only a few days for laundry to be returned, campers generally need enough clothing for 10 days (the first laundry is not for 10 days, then every seven days thereafter). Closet and shelf space is limited and campers who bring too much will find themselves without enough space. Therefore, when packing for camp, "if in doubt, leave it out."

Snail Mail & Email

When mailing campers and staff, it would greatly assist us if you could write the name of the bunk or the word "Staff" for counselors as part of the address. Campers and staff may be emailed at their own accounts and can access their email at the Computer Shop or Publications Shop. Please do not email the camp address with personal messages.
