We believe that to act and work creatively, young people should choose their activities and be allowed the time they need. That is why Buck's Rock, from its inception, has provided young people with a freedom that is rarely present in their everyday lives: the freedom of choice and the facilities and guidance to exercise their interests. Given such freedom and opportunity, young people often commit themselves wholeheartedly to their plans. Through their efforts, trials, errors, and accomplishments, they gain self-confidence and develop a sense of the direction they want their lives and life-interests to take. Many talented children attend Buck's Rock, but talent is not the prerequisite, curiosity and open-mindedness are! At Buck's Rock many teens nurture the talents and interests they have and explore and discover new ones, working toward becoming more of what they are capable of being.
