Buck's Rock Earth Awareness Day (BREAD) is a new event during the summer at Buck's Rock. On this day, there are activities during every part of camp life to help us think and learn more about what we can do to live more sustainably. Nobody at camp claims to have a solution, but we all agree that as artists and young people, we should be talking about it. And talking is the first step.
During the first two years of BREAD, we've had an eco-information fair on the porch, made tons of projects out of recycled materials in the shops, installed low-flow shower heads all over camp, had debates about carbon footprints, interviewed each other about earth day on the radio, and filled the camp with posters posing big questions to ponder, or reminding us of ways to save energy. Check back next year to see how BREAD grows!
