Softball
Buck's Rock has its own softball league, "The Watermelon League," with games most evenings, and everyone who wants to play is welcome, regardless of ability.
Volleyball
There are weekly choose-up volleyball games, with campers and counselors coming together in a spirit of fun and friendship.
Basketball
Campers can just shoot some hoops or play a game during the day or in the evening.
Swiming
Our Olympic size swimming pool is open for recreational swimming every afternoon and on warm summer evenings. Qualified lifeguards and water safety instructors conduct the swimming program. In addition to recreational swimming, there are volleyball and pool games and evening activities such as aqua aerobics.
Tennis
Individual tennis lessons are offered on all levels with flexible scheduling that allows campers to arrange their lessons at times that are the most convenient for them. In-camp tournaments are held throughout the summer.
Martial Arts
At Buck's Rock we offer training in Karate, Judo, Tai Chi, Yoga, and Tae Kwon Do. Campers are given instruction in practical self defense and self confidence, meditation, and martial arts philosophy.
Fencing
Fencing attracts many campers and has enjoyed unbroken popularity at Buck's Rock for decades. Expert instruction in this ancient sport has led many campers to pursue their training, first on high school squads, and then as members of their college fencing teams.
Archery
Young people develop their talents with the bow and arrow at our archery range.
Horseback Riding
Buck's Rock is affiliated with the neighboring Wells Valley Farm of New Milford, CT., where campers receive expert riding instruction and learn stable management.
Wells Valley Farm, an extremely reputable local riding school, offers professional instruction for beginners to advanced riders in the areas of English hunt seat riding, dressage and combined training. Thirteen highly schooled horses are used for instruction in the 70 ft x 175 ft indoor arena or one of the many outdoor riding rings.
Diane of Wells Valley Farm holds certification with the American Riding Instructors Program and has over twenty years of riding and instruction experience. Laura has over 10 years experience and has extensive show experience with dressage and combined training.
Advanced registration is required.
Please note that the cost for riding lessons is not included in the tuition fee.
