If you’ve ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes to produce your favorite books and magazines, you’ll find out in the Publications Shop. A variety of programs takes campers through every step of publication – from the conception of an idea all the way through to the pressing of the ink on the pages of their own magazines and books. The shop produces a diverse assortment of projects, including newspapers, magazines featuring campers' poetry and short fiction, cartoon books of campers' comic strips and illustrations, and an incredible yearbook of Buck’s rock summer camp memories for everybody to take home at the end of the summer.
A talented staff of writers, illustrators, and graphic design experts meet regularly with with teen and junior campers to create the material for these publications. Campers work with the most modern tools to help them realize their artistic visions. Computer graphics programs and layout software, digital cameras and Internet access enable this shop to produce a staggering volume of material, all of which campers print using the Publications Shop’s own offset presses.
